Sustainable exhibition construction:
pleasure or burden?

Very trendy in 2024: we are sustainable!
Sustainability is a very broad concept. It takes little effort to speak beautiful words and good intentions. With a compelling story, it seems as if there are only advantages to sustainability.
How is it possible that there are still companies that do not see sustainability as the highest priority?
Below are some benefits and burdens of sustainable use of materials in stand construction.
3 benefits of sustainability:
- Environmental gain: by consciously managing our resources, we significantly reduce the ecological footprint. This must always be the starting point.
- Commercial: you position yourself as an environmentally conscious company. This conveys an attitude that is also considered by the (potential) customer.
- Financial: by consciously managing products, for example through reuse, significant savings can be achieved. On a stand with a lot of print work, this can sometimes lead to a 20% savings.

3 burdens of sustainability:
- Consciously dealing with materials also means making compromises. Instead of the traditional coffee cups, you now need to bring and wash your own cup or mug.
- New environmentally friendly materials sometimes have lesser properties than a polluting variant. Think, for example, of carpeting where the plastic backing is replaced by a textile variant. At higher temperatures in the exhibition hall, the 100% recyclable variant may react more than the non-recyclable variant.
- Less flexible: reusing materials can also mean that you cannot always change quickly. If you have banners printed with images for a stand, you will need to ensure that the dimensions of the stand are such that the “old” banners can be used again for a 2nd time.
Beaufair is built on the reuse of materials. Traditionally, we sell systems that you can use repeatedly. The Aluvision and T3 systems form a solid foundation for any exhibition stand.
